It was the long-awaited end of rumor-gate on the season finale of "The Real Housewives of New Jersey." After denying it for weeks, Teresa Guidice finally admitted to her roll in the rumors that had been spreading around about her sister-in-law, Melissa Gorga.
While she didn't come right out and say that she was behind the rumors directly, Teresa said she never stopped anyone from spreading them, and actually enjoyed hearing them because she and Melissa were "in a bad place."
“I admit it. I made mistakes. I listened to the wrong people. And, you know, I apologize," Teresa said. "I just want you to know, in your heart, like, I swear to you, I never put them up to doing anything.”
It was what her brother, Joe, had been waiting to hear for awhile. He said in a confessional that "Teresa has never admitted to anything that she has ever done wrong. But for her to admit to this, in her way of admitting to this, is a big deal. And that’s what I wanted to hear. It gives me closure. Now we can move on.”
The siblings ended their apologies with tears and a big hug, so can this family drama finally be over? Please!
“They cry for everything they've been through, and their tears say more than any therapy session breakthrough ever did," wrote HuffPost's Sydney Levin. "This is it: this is for real. They've pulled the sutures off the wound for the last time. Now it's time to slap on a Band-Aid and let it heal for good."
The Stir's Nicole Fabian-Weber noted, "[Teresa] didn't actually admit to doing anything wrong herself; but she copped to a guilty-by-association charge. Which, for Teresa, is huge.” Joe knows that Teresa will never come out and admit any actual wrongdoing, which is why he was so impressed with how close she came to it. For him, for right now, this was enough.
Next Sunday is "The Real Housewives of New Jersey" reunion at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo.
