Louis C.K. says he likes doing his show in New York, where 'no one has time to mess around.'
Louis C.K. loves shooting his hit show “Louie” in New York, because, well, people just “don’t give a s—,” he says.
The comic (below) spoke at the sold-out PaleyFest: Made in N.Y., Thursday at the Paley Center, saying he loves the constant flow of people in and out of his scenes.
“New York is great because people really don’t care,” he says. “Even fans, they’ve got somewhere to go.”
Of all the locations during his three seasons of the show (which he writes, produces and edits in his apartment), Louis thought Grand Central Terminal would be the craziest to shoot in. He says it turned out surprisingly easy because the crowd just kept changing, and the constant flow worked.
“No one has time to mess around; the whole city is kind of like that,” he says.
The one place that is difficult to shoot in turns out to be the subway. Louis and his crew often use the S train, he says, “because who takes the f—ing S train anyway?”
Louis says one big change for him is people stopping to record him on their cell phones as he films his show.
“You can tell some people don’t even know the show, but they see other people recording it, so they join in,” he joked.
Unlike most shows, C.K. does his series on his own terms, and says he waited a long time after wrapping season three to get started on season four, now filming around New York.
“It was for the good of the show. I didn’t want to make it with diminishing returns. ... I took a year off and hit the reset button,” he says.
The comic looked relaxed, saying, “I’m feeling a huge amount more energy.” He went on to explain that he loves living in New York, even when he was sleeping on a Murphy bed in a studio when he was just starting out.
“It’s really the disgusting parts of life that bring us together,” he said.
POWDERING THEIR NOSES
Portraying Donatella Versace in Lifetime’s “House of Versace” biopic, Gina Gershon had to pretend she was snorting mountains of cocaine. “That period of time, especially in the fashion business, everyone was doing coke, everyone was doing more drugs,” Gershon told Confidenti@l at the Cinema Society’s screening on Thursday at the Museum of Modern Art. “I never had a drug addiction like that, thank god … I was probably still in school.” Gershon added that Versace is “an excessive woman. She doesn’t do anything halfway.”
ANOTHER REALLY LATE ‘EXCLUSIVE’
Better late than never. On Sept. 26, Confidenti@l reported Kate Upton was apartment shopping in Manhattan to be closer to her boyfriend Maksim Chmerkovskiy, who lives in New Jersey. On Friday, our crosstown rival’s gossip page ran — you guessed it — an “exclusive” that the S.I. model was apartment shopping in Manhattan to be closer to Maks. We know the lovebirds won’t be nesting together over the weekend. Upton is in Paris for Fashion Week. Maks is making the rounds back home in the Ukraine.
THE MILEY-SINEAD WAR RAGES
Miley Cyrus is continuing her feud with Sinead O’Connor, after O’Connor publicly blasted the “Wrecking Ball” singer for being too sexual. Miley shot back, comparing the singer to troubled actress Amanda Bynes, and O’Connor wasn’t having it. In a third open letter to Miley, she wrote: “You can take five minutes today between G-string f—n’ changes to publicly apologize and remove your abusive tweets.” Your move, Miley.
GEORGE OF THE BUMBLE
We should all be so lucky to get photo-bombed by George Clooney. At the USC Shoah Foundation Institute’s Ambassadors for Humanity gala on Thursday night, Steven Spielberg joined Jessica and Jerry Seinfeld for a lovely photo opp, only to get punked by Clooney’s eyebrows. Also at the event, held at the Museum of Natural History, were Jon Stewart and Clooney’s “Gravity” co-star, Sandra Bullock. We’re sure hilarity ensued.
POWER WOMAN CHARLIZE
Charlize Theron poses at Variety’s fifth annual Power Women event at the Beverly Wilshire Four Seasons in Beverly Hills.
GRANDCHILD IS OZ-SOME
Imitation really is the best form of flattery, especially when it’s done by someone as adorable as Pearl Osbourne, granddaughter of legendary rocker Ozzy Osbourne. On Friday, the Prince of Darkness’ son Jack, 27, tweeted a photo of daughter Pearl wearing an Ozzy wig, necklace full of gold crosses and the front man’s trademark tinted lenses. Her new online persona is now “the princess of darkness.” Just don’t let her near any live bats.
ZETA-JONES STILL SOLO
Catherine Zeta-Jones — sans hubby Michael Douglas — was snapped Friday in Mount Kisco, N.Y., not far from her Bedford home. The actress, who recently turned 44, is estranged from husband Michael Douglas, but was wearing her wedding ring. Zeta-Jones looked radiant in a white coat, an Hermès belt, Chanel handbag and silk scarf.
