In the Now for Friday, Sept. 27

BARBIE’S BEST BANDAGE

Life in plastic, it’s fantastic!

Hervé Léger by Max Azria Barbie ($150 at BarbieCollector.com) hit stores this week — and she’s clad in the teeniest version of the brand’s signature bandage dress, complete with a black corset harness belt and gladiator boots.

“This experience takes me back to my early designing days, nostalgic memories of shortening hemlines to handkerchief tops and sweaters made of socks,” says Lubov Azria, the Chief Creative Officer of BCBG MAXAZRIA. “The best was working with our counterparts, requesting rather miniature strips of bandages, tiny zippers and probably the world’s smallest harness belt. Nothing but authentic Hervé Léger by Max Azria pieces for Barbie!”

Azria says Barbie, like her customers, needed multiple glam outfit options. In addition to the red-hot Leger bandage dress, she also comes with a graphic black-and-white number inspired by the designer’s Runway collection, and matches the exact one Azria has in her own closet.

“Barbie timelessly represents confidence and femininity,” Azria says. “Every woman who is confident and wants to make a statement is a Hervé Léger lady. Barbie is iconic and always balances being on trend, yet always being timeless. Hervé Léger and Barbie are a perfect match.”

Presale of the Barbie starts Friday at HerveLeger.com and BarbieCollector.com. Raakhee Mirchandani

DESIGNS FOR LIVING

October has officially become Archtober .

On Tuesday, the city’s third annual festival of architecture and design presents more than 200 events.

Classics include the Home Show at the Javits and Open House NY, which provides tours of historic and offbeat buildings. In the mix: 4 World Trade Center and the Four Seasons.

New “City Modern” treks go inside showcase homes, including Ben and Christine Hansen’s Boerum Hill townhouse.

“We took so much flack for putting this up,” she says, “it’s nice to be able to invite people in and make them go ‘Wow.’”

Expect similar enthusiasm at the Architecture & Design Film Festival at Tribeca Cinemas.

“We had at least seven entries about gentrification,” said festival founder Kyle Bergman. “It was hard to choose just one.”
