It's pretty obvious that we were underwhelmed by the fashion we saw at the 2013 Emmy Awards. A very select group of stars managed to shine, but most of them just flopped.

Since so many gorgeous dresses came down the runway during Fashion Week, we expected our favorite A-listers to do much better. To help them out (and hopefully give them inspiration for next season), we've picked out the gowns from various spring 2014 collections that we wish they had worn. Next year, these celebs should consult us first, clearly.

Lena Dunham --> Temperley London

lena

The main issue with Dunham's dress is the excessive material. The skirt is too full and too long, and the bodice is not tight enough, making her look bigger than she is. This Temperley London dress is not only proportionally better, but the purple hues would have complimented her brown hair and fair skin.

Kerry Washington --> Monique Lhuillier

kerry

Washington looks amazing in bright colors and this red and pink Monique Lhuillier top and skirt combo would have made her stand out on the red carpet. And we know she has the body to rock a crop top.

Allison Willams --> Jason Wu

alison

Williams' dress is boring us to tears. Nothing about it is memorable, and while we don't hate it, we think this Jason Wu dress could have easily made her the best-dressed star of the night.

Alyson Hannigan --> Delpozo

hannigan

If she's not in a wedding party, this dress has got to go. Imagine Hannigan's red hair against this billowy Delpozo top. And that slim skirt would make her legs look miles long. (Our only suggestion would be to skip the blue eyeshadow when copying this look.)

January Jones --> Cushnie et Ochs

jan jones

This color is washing the "Mad Men" star out, and the dress has little shape. Had she worn this Cushnie et Ochs dress, she could have flaunted that amazing figure of hers.

Jessica Paré --> Tadashi Shoji

jessica pare

This dress was the wrong color and the wrong shape. However, this little black Tadashi Shoji dress has the perfect amount of sex appeal and bling to set Paré apart from the crowd.

Kate Mara --> Naeem Khan

kate mara

Mara got the color right at the Emmys, but her look needs slight refining. This Naeem Khan dress is so simple, yet so delicate and striking. Which is perfect for Mara, who always likes to make a statement.

Julie Bowen --> Ralph Lauren

ralph lauren

The dress Bowen wore to the Emmys was overly sweet and ruffly. We would have much rather saw her take a chance in this sexy red Ralph Lauren number. The color would have been perfection against her porcelain complexion.

Carrie Underwood --> J. Mendel

carrie

Another bad bridesmaid dress. Instead of showing up to the Emmys looking like a cake topper, the country singer should have sported this slinky red J. Mendel number. It would have shown off her best assets.
