Victoria Beckham tweets fake cronuts, inventor corrects her

Victoria Beckham appears to have fallen for a cronut con.

On Monday morning, the day after her runway show at New York Fashion Week, the designer tweeted “Breakfast! Cronuts x vb” along with a picture of what she thought were authentic croissant-donut hybrids.

However, cronut mastermind Dominique Ansel later tweeted back at the former Spice Girl to inform her that the dozen treats she had shown were not the real deal.

“Who tricked @victoriabeckham into thinking those knockoffs were the real Cronut™?” the Anse wrote. “An intern who overslept and didn't wait in line? Hope not.”

Ansel has reportedly protected the name of his famous pastry with an international trademark, which has sparked the creation of so-called “ Dossants,” “Zonuts” and “Co-Nots.”

Beckham didn’t publically respond to the tweet.
