Damon Lindelof's 'The Leftovers' ordered to series by HBO

Once he was “Lost,” but now Damon Lindelof has found a new television project.

HBO announced Monday that the network had ordered “The Leftovers” to series - a post apocalyptic drama series based on the 2011 novel by Tom Perrotta about a group of people who didn’t cross over during the Rapture and are stranded in “a world that will never be the same.”

Lindelof, who co-created “Lost” with J.J. Abrams before transitioning to movie screenwriting, is attached to the one-hour series as a show-runner.

Justin Theroux - a.k.a. Jennifer Aniston’s fiance - headlines a cast that also includes Amy Brenneman, Liv Tyler and “Dr. Who” alum Christopher Eccleston.

“Friday Night Lights” helmer Peter Berg will direct the pilot, which will be co-written by Lindelof and Perrotta, who is also on board as a producer.
