Louis C.K. dropped by "Conan" with a lot of thanks for his former boss. Conan O'Brien gave C.K. his big break as one of the original writers on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien." He said that were it not for that gig, he would have given up on comedy altogether.
O'Brien thanked C.K. for his kind words by digging up a sketch from O'Brien's very first "Late Night" show back in 1993. C.K. was featured in the episode, though he was barely recognizable. The guest was Bob Costas, who was taking a "loving look back on the classic film 'The Wizard of Oz.'"
Louis C.K. played a tree in the sketch, recreating the classic scene from the film where the trees start throwing apples at Dorothy and her friends. After Costas picked one of C.K.'s apples, he shouted, "How would you like if someone did that to you?” And the throwing began.
From an incognito beginning as a tree, Louis C.K. has certainly done well for himself. He and his show "Louie" are up for an impressive six Emmys. Fans can tune in on Sunday night to see if he wins. Neil Patrick Harris hosts the 65th Emmy Awards on CBS at 8 p.m. ET.
Tune in to "Conan" every weeknight at 11 p.m. ET on TBS.
