Belgium's former king has asked for money after complaining that $1.2 million a year was not enough to live on.
Former monarch, King Albert II had asked for an increase in the amount of money he gets from the tiny European state in order to pay his castle's heating bills and to meet the cost of fuel for his royal yacht.

The demands have been met with fury in Belgium and politicians have told him he will not get a cent more from the public purse.
Albert abdicated earlier this year on the grounds of ill-health and the title of king has passed to his son, Phillipe, reports the Daily Telegraph.

He lost out on allowances worth over $15million in doing so.
Elio Di Rupo, Belgium's prime minister, told MPs that the former monarch would not get any more money at a time when Belgium is making cuts to public services.
"I and the government are very satisfied with the reform of the allowances and the financing of the monarchy. The government does not intend, directly or indirectly to change anything," he said.
