Chris Christie guest stars on Michael J. Fox's show

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie showcased his acting chops on the small screen Thursday as a guest star on Michael J. Fox's NBC sitcom.

In the episode, "Bed Bugs," the outspoken Republican is interviewed by Fox, who plays a newsman on the comedy.

Christie toys with the audience that he is "so inspired" by Fox's story of resilience in the face of Parkinson's disease, that he will finally make the announcement everyone has been waiting for.

Unfortunately for Fox, he suffered a sleepless night and drifts off during his big story break and misses the scoop of the century.

The politician's part, which lasted less than a minute, aired the same week he won an easy re-election in the Garden State.

Christie actually filmed his cameo for the program in July but tried to downplay that he was dabbling in a career in acting.

"I didn't go to Hollywood. ... It's a very brief appearance. You don't have to worry about me leaving New Jersey to go start my acting career," he joked this summer about his TV spot.
