During the height of their nasty divorce Tom Cruise suspected Katie Holmes used the paparazzi to portray her high-ranking Scientologist ex-husband as a cruel nutcase, a new report alleges.
A trove of emails obtained by RadarOnline reveal a brutal back and forth between the two star’s camps that often featured their 7-year-old daughter, Suri, in the center.
In August 2012 Cruise’s team suspected a tough cover story on the dad’s alleged over-the-top efforts to charm his daughter were planted by Holmes “in true scum form,” Cruise’s publicist Amanda Lundberg wrote in an email.

Team Cruise suspected the source of the leaked information regarding Cruise taking Suri on a private flight to Disney World was Jeanne Yang, Holmes’ stylist.
“At this point she and they are involved in a conspiracy,” another email from Cruise’s team said of Yang.
“They know she’s making this bs up.”

The team of Cruise supporters also suspected Holmes was using the paparazzi to keep herself in the public eye during the stunning split.
“(Holmes's publicist) calls the paparazzi every time K gets ready to leave the building as the doormen are always surprised how they suddenly show up when she is about to leave,” Lundberg wrote in another email regarding the prevalence of photos of a distressed Holmes walking outside of her Chelsea apartment.
At one point Cruise’s people even considered calling for a truce with Holmes because of the trauma the public back-and-forth could cause Suri.
“This getting more disgusting if that is even possible. And this should be curbed whenever possible — their daughter doesn’t deserve these incessant lies,” Lundberg wrote in September 2012.
On Thursday, the first details regarding the 2012 divorce began to trickle out when it was revealed Holmes did indeed leave Cruise in part because of his ties to Scientology.
