Dominique Strauss Kahn's ex-wife Anne Sinclair is preparing to claim a $100 million Matisse from the Nazi horde just found in Munich.

The long-suffering former wife of Dominique Strauss-Kahn, is set to claim ownership of a $100 million Matisse painting found among a recently-discovered Nazi art horde.

Anne Sinclair believes the painting, "Sitting Woman" belonged to her grandfather, a French art dealer by the name of Paul Rosenberg.

Rosenberg fled Paris before the Nazi invasion in 1940, leaving many valuable art works to their fate, reports the Mirror newspaper.

Among Rosenberg's clients were Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso. He was able to send some of his collection out of France at the beginning of World War Two and went on to continue his career in New York.

Chris Marinello, the director of Art Recovery International, said he was 'in the process of submitting a claim' on behalf of Sinclair for the Matisse painting. Marinello said he was "confident" that the art work, which could have a Rosenberg gallery stamp on the back, would be returned to Sinclair.

"Sitting Woman" was left behind in Paris and the work was found among a near priceless cache of 1,400 works seized by the Nazis and only discovered this month at the Munich home of 80-year-old recluse Cornelius Gurlitt.

His father was an art dealer employed by the Nazis to sell off paintings which Hitler's regime considered "degenerate".

Sinclair, 65, bankrolled DSK following sexual assault allegations in New York in May 2011.
