Kanye West talks to paparazzi, explains LAX scuffle

Kanye West said he was 'antagonized' before attacking cameraman Daniel Ramos at LAX airport in July.

"The guy set me up at the airport," the rapper said, in a video obtained by Splash News.

West has been charged with misdemeanor battery and attempted grand theft for the assault on Ramos and his camera.

This time, stopping to calmly talk to a group of shutterbugs while pumping gas, West, 36, explained that he takes issues with the amount of disrespect for him and his family - girlfriend Kim Kardashian and their four-month-old daughter North - that the paps dish out on a daily basis.

"That's the day I found out that my grandfather was not going to make it," he said.

"I tried to stop his camera, he fell down, he faked it, and then people are talking about …'why did you hit that guy?' I obviously didn't hit the guy," he said.

He chatted calmly with the group of photographers about how he thinks about his daughter growing up to endure harassment from photographers, and asked that they be more respectful.

"It's not about being a superstar it's about being a human being," the rapper said.

The "Yeezus" musician even joked with the shutterbugs about how he understands that they want to take photos of him.

"We're in this together," he said. "You guys help me influence, you help with the family, you help Kim's power and everything … I'm not trying to be at you guys in any negative way, and I don't want you being negative to me."

"I would prefer that we just have a decent relationship."

Though some photographers continue to hound West, the rapper stays clear of any conflict by getting in his car and politely letting them know the conversation is over.
