Tina Fey, Amy Poehler snag 2 more gigs as Golden Globe hosts

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler have signed on for two more years hosting the Golden Globes gala.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which hands out the annual movie and television honours, announced the deal with the two top TV comedians today in conjunction with Dick Clark Productions, which produces the televised awards show.

"Tina and Amy have a truly unique chemistry, making them one of the most talented and captivating pairings of all time," Dick Clark Productions CEO Allen Shapiro said in a statement.

Fey and Poehler earned widespread kudos and a raft of positive reviews for their stint as co-emcees for the Jan. 2013 edition of the Globes, which attracted nearly 20 million viewers (a six-year high for the glitzy Hollywood celebration).

"Their return ensures that the Golden Globes will once again be the biggest, best and most entertaining awards celebration of the year," said HFPA president Theo Kingma.

Under the agreement, the two Saturday Night Live alums will host the 2014 and 2015 editions of the Golden Globes, which likely takes them out of consideration for hosting the Oscars broadcast. The latter is the high-profile hosting gig many have expressed an interest in seeing the pair tackle, especially after a scene-stealing skit during recent Emmy Awards.

Fey, who has balanced film and TV roles, recently ended her acclaimed sitcom 30 Rock and is developing a new series. Poehler currently stars in the popular NBC sitcom Parks and Recreation.
