Fleetwood Mac bassist John McVie diagnosed with cancer

Fleetwood Mac is canceling 14 dates during the the Austrialian and New Zealand legs of their worldwide tour after it was revealed that bassist John McVie has been diagnosed with cancer.


"We are sorry to not be able to play these Australian and New Zealand dates," the band said in a statement posted to its Facebook page on Saturday.

McVie, 67, will be seeking treatment for his undisclosed cancer during that time, the statement explains.


"We hope our Australian and New Zealand fans as well as Fleetwood Mac fans everywhere will join us in wishing John and his family all the best."

McVie, along with the band's drummer Mick Fleetwood, is known for being one of the founding members of the group. They combined their surnames to create the name Fleetwood Mac.
