The outrageous trio of Ricky, Julian and Bubbles are heading back to the big screen next spring in Trailer Park Boys 3: Don't Legalize It.
The third feature film spun off from the Nova Scotia-based, profanity-laced, comedy mockumentary series Trailer Park Boys is slated for theatrical release on April 18, distributor Entertainment One announced.
Continuing the ridiculous antics from the Gemini-winning TV show, the third movie follows the bumbling trio as they are released from jail, face news that they're broke and must scramble to come up with a new get-rich-quick scheme.
One business — Ricky's sideline selling marijuana — is threatened, for instance, by a government plan to legalize pot.
Don't Legalize It is the final TPB project from original producers Mike Clattenburg (who also directs the films), Michael Volpe and Barrie Dunn.
A fixture of the Canadian comedy scene since its debut in 2001, Trailer Park Boys centres on the antics of Ricky, Julian and Bubbles, three petty crooks who are filmed by a documentary crew as they go about their lives in the fictional community of Sunnyvale.
Though the TV show ended in 2008, the TPB story continued with films, including 2009's Trailer Park Boys: Countdown to Liquor Day.
In July, actors Robb Wells, John Paul Tremblay and Mike Smith — who star as the titular "boys" Ricky, Julian and Bubbles, respectively — announced they had acquired rights to the franchise and would move forward with new episodes on their web channel, SwearNet.com.
